How Do I Get A Library Card?

There are Two Ways to Get a Library Card!

In-Person Registration

To obtain a permanent library card with full borrowing privileges you will need to visit the Carpinteria Community Library in-person. You will need to show current personal photo identification and a proof of current address. Your library card can be used to check out physical and digital materials and access library databases.

If you live outside the 805 area code, we will create a “Visitor” account for you and set it to expire in three months from the date of registration. This is to prioritize spending on digital resources for local residents and other patrons of the Black Gold Library Consortium. If you live, work, or have some other part-time arrangement in Carpinteria, please let us know and we will work with you on getting an active library card while you are in the area.

Homebound Patrons

To get a library card with borrowing privileges, please fill out an online application. The applicant will be contacted by library staff for ID information. Once the information is validated, the library card will be mailed.

See our Homebound Patron Policy for more information about borrowing materials.
