There are Two Ways to Get a Library Card!
In-Person Registration
To obtain a permanent library card with full borrowing privileges you will need to visit the Carpinteria Community Library in-person. You will need to show current personal photo identification and a proof of current address. Your library card can be used to check out physical and digital materials and access library databases.
If you live outside the City of Carpinteria, we will create a Visitor account for you that will expire three months from the date of registration. This policy helps prioritize spending on digital resources for local residents and other patrons of the Black Gold Library Consortium. If you live, work, or have another temporary or part-time arrangement in Carpinteria, please let us know, and we will be happy to work with you to provide an active library card during your time in the area.
Homebound Patrons
If you live in Carpinteria, you may apply for a library card with borrowing privileges by completing an online application. A library staff member will contact you to request identification. Once your information is verified, your library card will be mailed to you.
See our Homebound Patron Policy for more information about borrowing materials.
